Seconds means the free iOS app unless a paid unlock or Seconds Pro is explicitly named. This is a documentation-based comparison, not a hands-on performance test.

What do you want to hear while you train?

A useful timer does more than show a number. For a wall sit, a plank, or a repeatable practice session, the difficult part can be staying with the effort you chose. Motivational Timer puts recorded encouragement inside that moment. Basic guidance is included, with more coaching programs, voices, and ambient audio in the optional Pro unlock.

Seconds describes voice cues that announce intervals. That is valuable when you need to know when the next movement starts. Our recommendation is to decide whether your next session needs encouragement, a precisely sequenced workout, or both. A spoken interval label and a recorded coaching program serve different purposes.

What remains useful without paying?

In Motivational Timer, countdowns, the stopwatch, custom activities, and the progress record belong to the free core. Pro changes the audio choices. It does not make you pay to repeat yesterday’s activity or look back at saved sessions.

Seconds offers its features to try, but repeating a saved timer requires the unlock. Seconds Pro is the separate upfront-purchase edition. Neither paid route is a subscription. Check which edition you own before purchasing.

Choose around your next session.

Choose Motivational Timer if you want to name an activity, set a target or use the stopwatch, hear encouragement, and save a result. Its appeal is the connection between the effort happening now and the history you can return to later.

Choose Seconds if your decision depends on structured interval sequences, timer sharing, or a dedicated Apple Watch experience. Its developer documents those capabilities. This comparison does not claim Motivational Timer is a substitute for every interval-planning workflow.

A LITTLE MORE CLARITY

Good questions.

Does Seconds have voice guidance?

Yes. Seconds documents spoken interval cues. We distinguish those from Motivational Timer’s recorded encouragement programs; we do not label Seconds as a silent timer. [3]

Is Motivational Timer Pro a subscription?

No. The documented Pro offering is an optional one-time lifetime audio unlock. The core timer, Basic coaching, custom activities, and progress remain free. [1]
